About Us
Open Space is simple cafe with a simple concept, low impact intentional conservation. The decisions regarding all facets of business follow the basic premise of environmental awareness, sustainability and outreach. Though our operations may be standard cafe practice, our intentions are sincere. We serve coffee, cocktails and a variety of local foods either prepared or made with basic ingredients, sourced with minimal packaging (often in bulk) from companies with overall values in line with ours. As the menu grows and our guests share their insights, ideas and expectations we try to provide the kind of growing neighborhood cafe that people enjoy while maintaining our personal challenge to become an outpost for ecological information and a demonstrative sustainable resource. This is a two-way street here.
In cooperation with Portland Master Recyclers, the Portland Audubon Society, the Native Plant Society and many other local and national environmental groups we strive to provide literature, schedules for events and networking opportunities for our community. While filling some hungry tummies with snacks, coffees and tasty cocktails.
